State Route 112 from west of Port Angeles to Neah Bay

Beginning a few miles west of Port Angeles, the San Juan de Fuca Highway follows a rugged stretch of the northern Olympic Peninsula. Designated as a national scenic byway in 2000, the route traces the shoreline, winding between forested hills and coastal viewpoints, with frequent access to beaches and trailheads. Discover outdoor recreation and cultural experiences, including opportunities to learn about the Makah Tribe and explore lands within the reservation, which is home to Neah Bay and the short Cape Flattery Scenic Byway.

Port Angeles
A convenient starting point with full services, Port Angeles offers access to Olympic National Park, a walkable waterfront, and plenty of dining and shopping. It’s a good place to fuel up before heading west into the byway.

Joyce
This small community surrounded by forest offers a quiet glimpse into local life on the peninsula. Visit the charming Joyce General Store or time your visit for the annual Joyce Daze Wild Blackberry Festival.

Salt Creek Recreation Area
Known for its tidepools, Salt Creek Recreation Area features rugged shoreline, open bluff views, and access to Tongue Point. Visit at low tide for an up-close look at marine life.

Clallam Bay & Sekiu
Clallam Bay offers wide views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and a quiet coastal setting. The small village of Sekiu provides fishing and boating opportunities, as well as easy access to the water.

Neah Bay
Located within the Makah Reservation, Neah Bay marks the end of the byway and serves as a base for exploring nearby coastal sites, including Cape Flattery, the northwesternmost point in the contiguous United States. Visitors can also learn more about Makah culture and history at the Makah Museum. Note: A Makah Recreation Permit must be displayed in your vehicle while enjoying outdoor activities on reservation land.
