Bainbridge Island and Bremerton are some of the easiest car-free day trips by ferry, while the Link light rail’s Crosslake Connection makes it easy to visit the neighboring cities of Bellevue and Redmond. Cities along the I-5 corridor, including Tacoma, Everett, and Bellingham, can also be reached by Amtrak Cascades. What are good day trips from Seattle if you’re short on time? Nearby destinations such as Woodinville, Issaquah, Snoqualmie, Renton, and Bellevue are all great options within about 35 minutes and do not require timing your visit around a ferry schedule. Can you visit Mount Rainier on a day trip from Seattle? Yes, but an early start is recommended due to traffic, entrance wait times, and parking. Focus on one area of the park rather than trying to see multiple areas in a single day. What islands can you visit from Seattle for the day? Bainbridge Island is the easiest island day trip from Seattle and can be explored without a car. Whidbey Island is another great option, especially for travelers interested in beaches and scenic drives. While you could visit the San Juan Islands from Seattle as a day trip, the combined ferry and drive time can make the day feel rushed. A seaplane from Seattle provides a faster, but pricier, alternative. Instead, plan to spend at least one night in the San Juan Islands for a relaxing experience. Featured image credit: Teo Crider
