Kim Richey’s passion for music was sparked early in her life as she spent time in her great aunt’s record store. The Ohio native started learning the guitar in high school and played in a band in college. After college, she moved around, exploring Colorado, Washington, South America, Boston, Europe, and occasionally Nashville. In 1988, Richey planted her roots in Nashville to test her skills and hone her songwriting craft. Before long, Richey was signed to Polygram Records.

Richey’s music has a rule-breaking style which sets her outside contemporary country music’s bounds. Through it all, Richey has worn her heart on her lyrical sleeve.
